Biosketch:
Kai Q. Lao is currently Principal Scientist in Genetic Systems, Applied Biosystems, part of Life Technology. Dr. Lao received his Ph.D. from The University of Chicago in 1990. Following his graduation, Dr. Lao moved to California where he had his post-doctoral training in biophysics at Stanford University. Prior joining Applied Biosytems/Life Technologies, Dr. Lao was employed as a visiting scientist at UC Berkeley and a senior scientist at Hoechst/SYVA to develop biotechnology in DNA detection/sequencing. Dr. Lao have authored and coauthored 50+ patents/patent applications and 50+ peer reviewed scientific papers.
