Title: MECHANISM OF GENOME SEQUENCING: SETUP AND OPERATION OF A FACILITY

Next-generation sequencing technologies are transforming the field of genomic science and the DNA sequencing based approaches are penetrating in almost every topics of modern biology. Rapid development of sequencing instruments, information framework, and bioinformatic capabilities have made it possible that many institutions and even individual labs can now think of setting up their own DNA sequencing facilities. Therefore, frequent questions floating in the field are: what it takes to set up my own sequencing facility; how to do so; are there tips; and can you help? Yes, a team of experts is assembled in this session to specifically address these questions. Collectively, they will cover: what biological questions can be effectively studied by genomewide sequencing analysis; how to generate different types and high quality libraries; how to manage the workload and timelines; how to flow sequencing reads around; and how to analyze the data for biological discovery.
